STEP 1: Visit the income tax e-filing website. After registering yourself, you must 'Login Here' to proceed to the e-filing portal.
STEP 2: You must proceed to the 'Registered User' Tab and click on the 'Login' virtual switch. You will then be directed to a window, where you need to enter the User ID. This is your PAN Number, Password, Date of Birth, and the auto-generated CAPTCHA.
STEP 3: Carefully enter your credentials and click on the Login Tab. You can view the previous/current history of your income tax returns and also click on 'Filing of ITR'. You will be directed to a new window, where you can file the income tax return.
STEP 4: You have to enter your PAN, select the Assessment Year, then select the right ITR Form which you must file. If you are salaried, you must file ITR using ITR 1 (SAHAJ) in the appropriate column. You then proceed with your ITR Filing.
STEP 5: Once this is done, you must submit the Form and get an acknowledgment within the requisite time frame.
