The Aadhaar card is a very important document to have. With digitization, the need for KYC documentation only strengthens. The government has not made it mandatory to have an Aadhaar card but seeing the benefits and how the card has various uses, it has become an essential document. Some of the main uses of Aadhaar card are listed below:
Single identity:
The Aadhaar can serve as a single identification document. It serves as age proof, address proof and identity proof. You can apply for various schemes, subsidies or even verification process using Aadhaar.
Gas connection:
The DBTL scheme for LPG connections clearly states that it is compulsory to link the Aadhaar card to the bank account to avail the subsidy on the gas. When the Aadhaar is linked to the bank account, the subsidy amount is directly credited to the requisite bank account.
Government subsidies:
The government subsidies and benefits are availed directly by the deserving class through the use of Aadhaar. As Aadhaar is based on biometric identification, it rules out the probability of creation of fake identity to avail the benefits.
