How to update Aadhaar card online?

Aadhaar cards are registered with various details of a person. To change or update details on Aadhaar card follow steps below:

  • Visit Aadhaar self service update portal.

  • After reading the given information click on the “proceed button”.
  • Enter the 12 digit Aadhaar card number.

  • Enter the verification code and click on “send OTP” and enter TOTP.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number and login to your Aadhaar account.


  • Use the TOTP feature to authenticate.



  • Click the address option and click on the submit button.
  • Enter the residential address.
  • Click on the “submit update request” button.
  • For modifying the address click on “modify” option.
  • Check the declaration and click on the “proceed” button.
  • Select the document type you want to submit as proof of address for verification.


  • Upload the scanned copy of the address proof and click on the submit button.
  • Read the confirmation dialogue and click on the “yes” button.
  • Select the BPO service provider that will verify your details and click on submit.
  • The service provider verifies the information mentioned in the form with the proof of address and forwards the request to UIDAI. 

  • The update request is accepted and an acknowledgement slip is generated.
  • The acknowledgement slip contains the URN (update request number).

Once updated, you can download the updated version of Aadhaar.

Update Aadhaar card by visiting enrollment centre:

Aadhaar card holders can visit the Aadhaar enrolment centre and get the details of their Aadhaar card updated.

  • Fill the Aadhaar correction form.
  • Get self attested copies of proof, validating your request.
  • Submit the form and the documents.
  • For updating and correcting Aadhaar card details, the card holder will be charged Rs 25 for each visit to the enrolment centre.

How to update Aadhaar card details through post:

Aadhaar card details can also be updated offline by sending a request through post to UIDAI. Steps involved in this process are as follows:

  • Download online the “Aadhaar data update/correction form” by visiting the Aadhaar website
  • Fill the details which you want to change
  • Submit the form along with the documents that validate the changes requested.

  • You will receive an acknowledgement slip for your request.
