Uses of Aadhaar Card:

Some of the main uses of Aadhaar card are listed below:

Single identity: the Aadhaar serves as a single identity document. It serves as age proof, address proof and identity proof. You can apply for various schemes, subsidies or the verification process, using a single document. Aadhaar does not rule out other identity proof documents.

Gas connection: the holder of an Aadhaar card can avail various subsidies including LPG gas. The DBTL scheme for LPG connections clearly states that it is compulsory to link the Aadhaar card to the bank account to avail the subsidy on the gas. When the Aadhaar is linked to the bank account, the subsidy amount is directly credited to the account.

Government subsidies: the government offers various subsidies to some segments of the population. The benefits will be availed directly by the deserving classes, through the use of Aadhaar. Aadhaar rules out the probability of creation of fake identity to avail benefits.

Passport: Another benefit of the Aadhaar card is that you can apply for a new passport or renew the old one in less than 10 days. Under this directive, if the Aadhaar card has been provided at the time of application, the police verification can be done even after the passport has been issued and this saves a lot of time.

Pension and provident fund: the pension account can be linked to the Aadhaar card in order to receive pension each month. For this, the EPFO has to be linked to the Aadhaar card, to receive the provident fund money.

The government has launched Aadhaar card with the aim of providing citizens with a base for better access of schemes and services. The Aadhaar database serves as a single document to avail various services like opening a savings bank account, availing personal loan, filing income tax returns and so on. The benefit of having an Aadhaar is that it makes life easier, by providing comprehensive data and has also served to minimize corrupt practices.
