What is ePAN Card?

The income Tax Department has introduced the online PAN Card known as the ePAN card to ease the processes related to PAN card and help the individual taxpayer get access to electronic PAN card instantly.  The ePAN helps the users to get digital PAN cards while filing for income taxes and enables the Income Tax Department to track transaction and payments of taxes thus reduce corruption.

This facility is available to individual PAN applicants who have been allotted an Aadhaar number by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

How to apply for ePAN Card?

The ePAN card enables the first time taxpayers to get instant access to an electronic PAN card. The website enables to reduce the hassle of applying for PAN for the first time taxpayers. People who already have PAN cards are not eligible to get an ePAN card. The facility is free of cost and is provided for a limited period of time.

First-time taxpayers can follow the below-given steps to apply for an ePAN card:

  • Visit the UTIITSL website to apply for ePAN
  • You can choose between the options - Both physical PAN Card and e-PAN or e-PAN only, No physical PAN Card.
  • Provide all your personal details, along with your Aadhaar card number. Click on the acknowledgement box and click on submit.
  • Submit your Aadhaar card as ID proof
  • Once the application has been submitted the process of application is initiated. Complete the application and submit it. To complete the application process you must sign on a black paper and scan it with the below-given specifications:
    1. Resolution 200 DPI
    2. Size: 10 kb
    3. Dimensions: 2 cm * 4.5 cm
    4. File type: JPEG
  • After attaching the scanned copy, the digital application process is complete. Post this you will receive your acknowledgement number on your e-mail and receive a notification of your mobile number.
  • Once the ePAN is allotted, you will receive a notification by SMS and an e-mail confirmation
  • Thereafter you can check the status of your Epan card using the acknowledgement number.

Eligible to apply for ePAN Card Online:

The applicant must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply for the ePan card:

  • You must be an Indian resident
  • You must be an individual taxpayer and not a company or a member of the HUF
  • You must not have a PAN card
  • You must have enrolled in Aadhaar
  • You must have a valid mobile number linked to your Aadhaar details
  • The details on your Aadhaar card must be updated and correct

Check Status of ePAN Card:

When you file for a PAN Card it usually takes around 15 working days to get the card issued. If you want to track your PAN Card status and confirm your candidature then you can use the 15-digit acknowledgement number provided by the Income Tax Department on the application is submitted.

To check the status of your Pan Card application you can visit the NSDL or UTI website. You can track the PAN Card application status as well as the status for correction or updating of PAN Card. You can also track the PAN card status using your acknowledgement number. The acknowledgement number is provided when you apply for a Pan card or request for updating of your PAN card details. You can also use offline methods like SMS or call their landline number to check the status of your PAN card.

How to download ePAN Card Online?

The users who have applied for ePAN can download it from the UTI and NSDL websites by following the below-given process:

Download ePan from NSDL Portal:

There are two options for download of ePAN from the NSDL website:

  • Enter your acknowledgement number and enter the captcha code and login. Provide your details and enter submit to download the ePAN.
  • You can also download your ePAN by entering your details like date of birth and following the instruction provided on the website.

  • Visit the UTIITSL website
  • Click on ePAN download facility
  • Select the “click here” option
  • You need to read the instruction provided on this page.
  • Enter the required credentials
  • Fill the mandatory fields and submit your details
  • Download your ePAN
