What are the benefits of linking Aadhaar with EPF account?

The Employee Provident Fund Organization had launched the provident fund scheme as insurance for the workforce engaged in the organized sector in India. An individual can link Aadhaar with EPF account both online and offline. However, the EPFO has made it mandatory for employees to link their Aadhaar with the universal account number (UAN).   Listed below are some of the benefits of linking Aadhaar number with your EPF account:

  • Linking Aadhaar with the EPF account makes the process of verification easy and simple. The Aadhaar card is an identity proof and contains biometrics and demographic details of the individual which includes retina scan and thumb detection.
  • Linking Aadhaar with EPF and UAN rules out the possibility/chances of errors and discrepancies in the data in your EPF and UAN account, as your information is consistent with Aadhaar card details.
  • If you link Aadhaar to your EPF account, it reduces the chances of having a duplicate account. Aadhaar card number is a unique identification number which is issued by the UIDAI to every resident Indian. So, when the Aadhaar details are produced, it means an employee can only have a single EPF or UAN account.
  • You can withdraw your PF online without the attestation of employer. The entire process can be completed online without any hassles.
