Banks have introduced several ways through which customers can remain updated on their account balances i.e. online banking, mobile banking, SMS services, checking balance through UPI apps or by visiting the ATM kiosks.
Online Banking: Online banking or internet banking helps customers carry out banking activities online, that were traditionally offered by banks through physical bank branches. All you need to have is a steady internet service. To check your account balance using net banking, you can log on to your net banking account using your password and login credentials on the bank’s net banking website. On the home page, you will find a range of banking facilities including account balance check or account statement. Select the icon/option to check your account balance.
Mobile Banking Apps: Mobile banking is a service offered by banks and other financial institutions, through which you and other customers can conduct financial transactions and avail banking services by downloading apps on smartphones. The apps can be downloaded on Android phones using the Google Play Store.
Bank customers can use mobile banking services free of cost. The mobile banking service is convenient and user-friendly and works in a similar way as net banking. The user must login to the mobile banking app using the login credentials. The login credentials of mobile banking and net banking are the same. Once you log in, you will find a variety of options on the homepage. Click on the ‘check account balance’ option and your account balance is displayed on the screen.
SMS: Bank customers who do not have access to mobile network or internet banking facility can also check their bank account balances by making use of the SMS facility. To access this facility the customers have to register their mobile number with their bank (home branch) and link it to their accounts. The customers can register the mobile number while opening their bank accounts. In case of a change in mobile number or if a customer has not registered his mobile number while opening the account he can follow these steps:
Once the number has been registered with the bank where you have an account, you can easily use the SMS banking service. You can send an SMS to the number and format as specified by the bank.
