What Is Passport?

Passport is an official document issued to the general public by the ministry of external affairs MEA, on behalf of the Government of India. Passport is an extremely sensitive document and individuals must possess passport in order to travel abroad. Passport is considered a certification of the nationality and identity of an individual by the Government.

Passport contains photograph, full legal name, full residential address with pin code, place of birth and signature of the passport holder.

Passport applicant’s complete background verification is done before issuing passport. If there is an adverse report, then the passport will not be issued. Passport is a requisite document to travel abroad and hence the government ensures passport does not fall into the wrong hands. Obtaining passport is considered a tedious and herculean task, but thanks to TCS outsourcing, it’s relatively easy.

On successful submission of application for passport at the time of document verification at a Passport Seva Kendra, PSK or a passport camp, individuals receive a ‘file number’ which is used to track passport status.
