Steps to check the EPF Balance through SMS:

The employee provident fund is another name for pension fund. It is the amount of money that is deducted from the monthly income of the employee for retirement. The provident fund account accumulates the contributions made by both the employee and the employer. Its purpose is to provide the employee with a lump sum payment at the time of retirement.

There are a number of ways through which EPF balance can be checked. The EPF balance can be checked online by using the EPFO website or by using the UMANG app.

An employee or a member can also enquire on the balance in the PF account by sending an SMS. The EPFO has enabled members to know the details on the latest contribution and PF balance by sending a text message through mobile.

  • The members can use the UAN registered mobile number to send a SMS to 7738299899.
  •  Type this in the body of the message:
  • The SMS can be received in vernacular languages as well. The options available are Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Bengali.
  • Once you send the message, then EPFO will send the member details available as well as details of the KYC, last contribution, along with the total EPF balance.

Check the EPF Balance via missed call:

A member can get the details of PF balance by giving a missed call provided his KYC details are integrated with the UAN. The member can give a missed call on the number 011-22901406 from UAN registered mobile number. When the subscriber gives a missed call on this number he/she receives an SMS containing the EPF balance in the member’s account.

Steps to check the EPF Balance via UMANG App:

The balance of your EPF account can be checked anytime on the screen of Smartphone using the UMANG app. The user must install the UMANG app from the Google Play Store and follow the steps given below to check EPF claim using the UMANG app:

  • Open the EPFO tab on the UMANG app
  • Select the “Employee Centric Services” option
  • Choose the “Track Claim” option
  • Enter the UAN and password
  • Enter the reference number provided when filing the claim

PF balance by UAN:

The member can also check the EPF balance using the Unified portal. Follow the steps given below to know PF balance using the UAN:

  • Login to the EPFO portal
  • Click on ‘activate your login’
  • Enter your universal account number (UAN)
  • Enter your mobile number
  • Enter your state and office
  • Enter your company code provided by your employer
  • Type the CAPTCHA code
  • You will receive a PIN on registered mobile number.
  • Enter the PIN to receive information on PF balance.
