Aadhaar card is a very important document. It captures your biometric details and serves as a proof of identity. Sometimes we find mistakes in our newly issued Aadhaar Card. You need to get these errors rectified quickly. You can easily edit Aadhaar card information online, sitting comfortably in your home. It hardly takes you 10 minutes. All you need to do is register your mobile number, with the Unique Identification Authority of India.
You can correct your Aadhaar Card information, simply by visiting the website of Unique Identification Authority of India, at https://uidai.gov.in/. You can correct the information such as name, address, gender and date of birth, using this website.

Visit UIDAI website, https://uidai.gov.in/ and select ‘Update Aadhaar Detail Option ’.
Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number and fill the code provided, in the text verification box. Once you are done with this, click on Send OTP (One Time Password).
OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP in the given box and proceed.
Once you enter the OTP, you will see the web page which would allow you to update your Aadhaar details. Update these details (make a correction), and then move on to the next step.
You have to upload the scanned colored copy of your documents. It can be any government proof such as driving license, PAN card and so on. After this you have to select any agency, from where you want your details to be updated.
You will then receive a confirmation message, along with URN (Update Request Number). Keep this number very safe. Your updated Aadhaar card is delivered to your home, within a couple of weeks.
You can update the Aadhaar Online and even by post, absolutely free of cost. But, there’s a catch. If you visit an Aadhaar enrollment Centre and correct or update Aadhaar details, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 25, every time you get the Aadhaar details updated.
Remember: The enrollment is free. The update would cost you Rs 25 per update at the Aadhaar enrollment centers. Make sure you don’t pay more than Rs 25, at the Aadhaar enrollment center. The Aadhaar enrollment Centre charges nominal amounts for biometric updation. The Aadhaar centers which charge you for enrollment (This is absolutely free), could be deregistered or delicensed.
If you take a look at the UIDAI website, the turnaround time for such an updation would be 90 days. This update needs to be verified by the UIDAI representative. After your request gets approved, the e-Aadhaar can be downloaded by clicking on the “Download Aadhaar” on uidai.gov.in.
The Aadhaar letters with relevant updates, will be delivered at only the given address. This is only for updation in Name, Address, DOB (Date of Birth) and Gender. In case of an updation of the mobile number/email ID, you will simply be sent a notification on the given mobile number or the email ID.
You can even update Aadhaar details via post. You will have to download the Aadhaar Address Update/Correction form online: You will have to check mark the field that must be updated on the top of the form. You then fill up the form in English and also the local language. When you use the local language, make sure you use the same local language, that you had used at the time of enrollment in the Aadhaar.
You will have to fill up all the fields which require an aadhar card correction online update. It’s compulsory for you to provide the mobile number for any correction/updation in any of the fields. If you take a look at the UIDAI website, you will find that providing the email ID is optional. The fields which need to be updated, are shown very clearly in the form.
After you fill the application form, you send it along with self-attested supporting documents to the UIDAI. You will find the relevant address listed below.
You then mark the envelope as “Aadhaar Update/Correction” right on the top of the envelope.

You can visit the nearby enrollment center to get the Aadhaar updated. You can update the demographics (This includes Name, Address, DOB, Gender, Mobile and Email) and even biometrics (These include finger prints, IRIS, or the photograph).
You will have to carry all the original documents for an updation at the nearby enrollment center. At the Aadhaar enrollment center, all original documents will be scanned and then returned to you. For the purpose of this updation, you can visit any of the permanent enrollment centers.
Let’s say your name is printed incorrectly and you want to modify it. This is very important if your name is different in the PAN and the Aadhaar. This is a big problem as you cannot link Aadhaar with PAN. You can do so in a very simple way. All you have to do is visit the Aadhaar enrollment center and follow these steps:
Step 1: You must first fill the Aadhaar Enrollment or the Aadhaar correction Form.
Step 2: You then mention the correct name in the form.
Step 3: You submit the Aadhaar correction Form along with the relevant Identity Proof (This could be a Passport or Voter ID).
Step 4: The executive at the Aadhaar enrollment center will register the request for an updation.
Step 5: You will be given an acknowledgement slip, which is proof of the updation request.
Step 6: You will have to pay a nominal charge of Rs 25, to make use of the Aadhaar Updation facility.
To make changes or apply for the updated information on the Aadhaar card, an applicant needs to submit certain documents along with the Aadhaar card form for the successful update of the Aadhaar. Documents required for change of address on the Aadhaar card are the same as required for proof of residence at the time of enrolment. Any one of the above documents can be used as proof for the update of residential address in the Aadhaar.
The list of documents required for children, are the same as those required for a normal applicant. In addition to the documents required for applying for Aadhaar, additional documents of one of the parents must be attached for obtaining the Aadhaar of the child. The parent must attach his/her Aadhaar copy. Children below the age of 5 years do not require to submit biometric details. When the child attains the age of 5 years, he/she needs to submit the biometric details.
