The digital age also makes it very difficult for you to evade taxes. You have Aadhaar a 12 digit unique identification number issued by the Government Of India to you and all citizens. The Income Tax Department has made it compulsory for you to quote Aadhaar while filing Income Tax Returns (ITR). You can link PAN to Aadhaar through a simple 2 step procedure:
STEP 2 : Fill in your PAN, Aadhaar Number and Name as per Aadhaar. Do not make a mistake when filling your name. You then enter the Captcha Code and submit. If you are visually challenged, you can request an OTP. After verification from UIDAI which is the government website for Aadhaar, the linking will be confirmed.
1. Register and login to the Income Tax Department's e-filing website using user ID and password.
2. A pop-up window will appear and prompt you to link Aadhaar with PAN.
3. Your personal details like Name, DOB and Gender will appear just as you have submitted at the time of registration.
4. You have to match these details with the details in your Aadhaar card.
5. If details are fine/match, enter the Aadhaar number and the Captcha Code. Then simply click the 'Link Now' button.
6. A pop-up message saying “Aadhaar PAN linking is completed successfully" will appear.
The Income Tax Department wants you to link Aadhaar with PAN using the SMS facility. This is really simple. All you have to do is send a message to 567678 or 56161.
Please use the following format:
UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhaar ><10 digit PAN>
UIDPAN 121222332233 AAEAE1589E
So don't waste time. Link your Aadhaar with PAN using the SMS facility.
