What is Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) scheme? Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana is a flagship scheme of the Union Government of India launched under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in 2015. PMKVY was initiated under ‘Skill India’ movement. This scheme is targeted at a large number of Indian youth, to undergo industrial-skill enhancement training to enhance employability. This scheme was further extended to individuals with relevant prior learning/knowledge. Recognition of prior learning/knowledge (RPL) refers to assessment and evaluation of an individual’s existing skill sets, knowledge and experience gained.

PMKVY has certain eligibility criteria to select the candidates for training which are mentioned below;
There is no online procedure for candidates to register for the training at PMKVY centers. Candidates must follow the below mentioned steps for registration;

Different courses available under PMKVY; There are 34 courses that a candidate can choose from under PMKVY which are listed below.
A candidate needs to have attendance of at least 70% to be eligible for assessment. The assessment is done by third party assessment agencies that are empanelled by the sector skill council. The assessment is done absolutely free of cost. A candidate is graded as per the marks/points he secures in the assessment and would be certified accordingly. The certificates are first approved by the assessment agency and the final approval of the certification is done by the sector skill council. All the candidates passing the assessment with a score of more than 30% would be receiving Rs 500 in their bank accounts. Candidates can appear for reassessment only once and should appear within 3 months of the failed attempt.
Continuous monitoring of training centers: The quality and performance of training centers are monitored continuously in order to impart the best training to the candidates and meet the scheme’s objectives. Continuous monitoring and assessments would help identify the availability of centers and candidates, infrastructure , availability of documentation and Aadhar- Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS), awareness of candidates, trainers and training, branding and social media and feedback from training centers on issues of Aadhaar enabled biometric attendance system, Skill Development Management System (SDMS) and trainee handbook/ kits.
