Steps to Transfer EPF Account Online



You are switching jobs and it’s time to bring up something important. You can transfer your old EPF account to a new one online. The good news is you can transfer the EPF account both online and offline. The e-SEWA portal allows you and other EPF account holders to transfer EPF accounts online.

There are some prerequisites you must consider to transfer EPF account online. Make sure your UAN or Universal Account Number is activated on the e-SEWA portal. Make sure personal information like your name and contact details, marital status and so on are properly reflected on the e-SEWA portal after you login.

Make sure that IFSC and Aadhaar details are correct on e-SEWA portal. Bank account details and Aadhaar must be digitally approved (this is digital verification) by both UIDAI and the employer. After Aadhaar is linked to the bank account it’s verified by UIDAI.

How to Check if Aadhaar and Bank Account is Digitally Approved?

Just login to your EPF account and check in the ‘KYC’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.

Note: When you make an online submission of the transfer form, an OTP via SMS is sent to your registered mobile number. Make sure your mobile number is active. When you submit the transfer form online, you will have to choose if attestation is done by the previous or the present employer. Attestation is done using the DSC or Digital Signature Certificate.

How to Transfer EPF account online?

STEP 1: Visit the EPF Portal.

STEP 2: Go to the ‘Online Services tab’ and then click on ‘One Member – One EPF Account’.

STEP 3: A new webpage appears on the screen which shows details of personal information and presents an EPF account where you can transfer the money. Enter the current PF account number which you will find on the salary slip or EPF statement.

STEP 4: You then decide/select if the previous or present employer attests the online transfer form.

STEP 5: Enter EPF account number if UAN registered with a current and previous employer is the same. However, if EPF account with the previous employer is linked to a different UAN, you must enter this number.

STEP 6: You then click on ‘Get Details’ where you get to see EPF account details on your laptop screen.

STEP 7: Select the EPF account from where you want the money transferred to the current EPF account.

STEP 8: You then click on ‘Get OTP’, enter the OTP details and then click on submit. The tracking ID is shown on the screen.

How to Track the Status of EPF Account Online Transfer?

The e-SEWA Portal allows you and other EPF account holders to track transfer request status online. You can track this status with ‘Track Claim Status’ under ‘Online Services Tab’.

After the employer approves a transfer requests, the status of the form shows; ‘Accepted by the employer’. The processing of the EPF transfer request takes a couple of months.

How to File EPF Account Complaint?

  • Visit the EPF Grievance Management System.
  • You then click on Register Grievance.
  • A new webpage appears on the laptop screen and you select the status where you are filing the complaint - PF member, EPS Pensioner, Employer or Others.
  • You will then have to enter UAN and security code.
  • You then click on ‘Get Details’ where masked personal details are linked to UAN which are shown on your computer screen.
  • Click on ‘Get OTP’ where the OTP is sent to the registered email ID and mobile number.
  • You then enter the OTP and click on Submit. After a successful verification, you must enter personal details.
  • Click on the PF number where you have filed the complaints.
  • The pop-up appears where you select the radio button regarding the complaint and direct it to - PF office, Employer, Employees' Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) scheme or pre-pension.
  • Enter the description of the grievance and upload documentary proof.
  • After the grievance is filed; click on ‘Add’ and then ‘Submit’.
