Opening post office savings account just got easy. The Department of Post has launched mobile banking for savings account customers. The mobile banking facility comes just a year after internet banking facility for savings account holders was launched.
To avail mobile banking facility at Post office, you must have a valid email ID, valid PAN and a valid unique mobile number. You would find the customer ID printed on the first page of your passbook. The customer ID must be updated with first and last name, DOB, father’s name, permanent and present address, mobile and PAN number and mother’s maiden name.
You must have post office savings account in CBS (Core Banking Services) post office. You need a valid login and transaction credentials of internet banking. Mobile can be enabled after enabling net banking option at customer ID level by the service outlet. Single and Joint B account holders are eligible for mobile banking facility. Branch office accounts, minor, illiterate and Joint A accounts are not eligible for mobile banking facility.
Joint A Account: The Joint A accounts are opened by two or three adults and are operated jointly or by survivor.
Joint B Account: The Joint B accounts are opened by two or three adults by either of them or either of the survivor.

If you meet the eligibility criteria to open post office savings account, you can apply for the mobile banking facility at CBS post office and not branch offices. You (savings account holder), must submit the duly-filled form. The Post Office savings bank ATM card, internet, mobile and SMS banking service request form is available at the post office.
If your KYC is not complete, then you would have to get it completed. You must undergo KYC process while submitting request form. The form must be submitted only at the CBS post office where your savings bank account is held.
The mobile number must be unique to each customer and the same mobile number can’t be used for other customer IDs. After the form is submitted, the mobile banking facility gets enabled within 24 hours. Download ‘India Post Mobile Banking’ app from Google Play Store.
The user ID is the CIF ID and transaction password is the password set via internet banking facility.
These are the facilities you (post office savings account holder), can avail via mobile banking facility. You get account balance and details of savings, recurring deposit, loan against recurring deposit, PPF, time deposit, NSC and loan against PPF.
You also get transaction history for savings, recurring deposit, time deposit, PPF, loan against PPF and NSC. You also get a mini statement of savings and PPF. You can make a fund transfer between your savings bank account and other post office savings account holders.
You can transfer funds between your savings bank account to your own/linked recurring deposit and loan against recurring deposit accounts. You can indulge in fund transfers from your savings bank account to own/linked PPF accounts. You can request for RD account opening and time deposit account opening. You can also make a request to stop cheque payments.
If you want to disable mobile banking facility, you can do so by visiting the post office branch. The mobile banking facility gets disabled in 24 hours.
