STEP 1 : Check yourself for injuries

The first thing you do after a car accident is you check yourself for injuries. Move your hands, legs and check the neck, back and head for injuries. Walk in a straight line to check for a concussion.

STEP 2: Call for help

Call an ambulance if the car accident has resulted in casualties or a serious injury. Call your Insurer's Road Side Assistant and they will tow your car to a garage for cashless repairs.

STEP 3: You have to collate evidence

STEP 4: Collect some information on the other party

Take a paper and note down the Name, Address, email ID, mobile number of the other car owner who has crashed into your car. Jot down the car model number and the number plate of the car which was involved in the accident. Take down the name of the insurer of the other party (party involved in the crash) and the insurance policy number.

STEP 5: File a report with the police

Call the police to the scene of the accident, immediately. If they don't reach fast enough, visit the nearest police station and file an FIR. (First Identification Report). Give a description of the exact incident that took place and present your evidence. Note down the complaint number.
