A visa is an official travel document. It is stamped or glued to your passport, allowing you to legally enter a foreign country. A tourist visa allows you to enter a foreign country as a tourist and a student visa allows you to enter a foreign country as a student.
A valid passport: You need a valid passport to study abroad. Some countries ask you to have a valid passport till the end of the course, while some ask for valid passport when applying for student visa. You must have at least two blank pages in your passport for stamping the visa. If you have expired passports, make sure to submit copies of all these passports.
Bonafide Student Proof: No matter which country you apply for student visa or which category of student visa you apply, you need proof of being a bonafide student. This can be got by showing admission confirmation for an educational course in the foreign country.
Financial Lucidity: You must have the money to live and study in a foreign country. You must show you have the money not just to manage tuitions fees and college expenses, but also to manage living expenses in the foreign country. Some countries ask you to have a stipulated amount of funds, while some others stipulate a minimum living cost as per government guidelines. If you are applying for a student visa, you must show proof that you have living expenses handy in ready cash.
Language Proficiency: Many Indian students study in UK, US, Ireland or Australia which are English speaking countries. You need to show proof that you can communicate in English. (Both written or verbal). You need a minimum score in TOEFL, IELTS or PTE to show English Proficiency. Before you or any student writes the English test, you must check if this test is recognized by the country’s immigration department. Countries have student visa guidelines which demand a minimum score.
