Heavy rains and flooding in Assam has caused massive damage in several parts of the state. It has affected more than 43 Lakh people across 30 districts. As houses are completely waterlogged, over 1,15,389 people have been moved to 829 relief camps and relief distribution centers set up by the district administration.
The total number of deaths due to the floods rose to 64 on Sunday. More than 141 animals at the Kaziranga National park drowned in the floods. The floods have inundated 1,50,21,360 hectares of land. Some parts of Bihar have been adversely affected by the floods.
People from all parts of the country, including celebrities, have come forward to donate funds to the flood-affected regions of Assam. Akshay Kumar has donated Rs 1 crore each to the Assam Chief Minister's Relief Fund and the Kaziranga National Park. Hima Das, an athlete, has contributed half of her monthly salary towards relief efforts.
B-town celebrities and cricketers are encouraging fans to donate to people who have been affected by these floods. Actor John Abraham, Actress Priyanka Chopra and former cricketer Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina had tweeted requesting their fans to do their bit, for the people of Assam.
To help people affected by the Assam floods, the Chief Ministers Relief Fund in collaboration with Milaap, has become a bridge for donors to help the flood victims. The state needs the help of people along with their prayers.
