Basically, there is no set definition for a populist budget and it intends to reflect the interest of a larger population base of the country. 'Populist' is an adverb added to the budget through which it resonates with the public and hence increases its appeal. It can thus be said that such a budget is devised by the government by articulating the general concerns of the people.

It is the second Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) that will be launched by the Union Finance Ministry. ETFs are essentially index funds that are listed and traded on stocks exchanges just like regular shares. They are a basket of stocks with assigned weights that reflects the composition of an index. The ETF is aimed at helping speed up the government's disinvestment programme.

It is a Government of India initiative to encourage saving for girl-child. It can be opened from the time of birth till your daughter attains 10-years of age. Minimum of Rs.1,000 and maximum of Rs.1.5 lakh can be invested every year. The account will remain operative for 21-years from the date of its opening or till the marriage of girl after she turns 18.
