Govt proposes to ease environment rules for construction sector

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has "once again" proposed to ease the environment rules for the building and construction sector, stipulating that projects of less than 50,000 square metres size would not require environment clearance (EC). The projects will be able to commence construction once the local authorities issue the building permission incorporating a series of environmental conditions.

3 held in Rs290 crore bank loan fraud in Mumbai

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the city police arrested three people in a Rs290-crore fraud where Axis Bank was duped by four directors of a city-based company. The arrested accused, directors of various firms Bhawarlal Bhandari, 46, Premal Goragandhi, 40 and Kamlesh Kanungo, 41 helped the main accused to illegally obtain funds from the bank.

Apple is said to develop displays to replace Samsung screens

23,000 dollar-millionaires have left India since 2014

India has lost the highest percentage of dollar-millionaires to migration since 2014, ahead of China and France, with the crackdown on black money being the most plausible reason for the exodus. Nearly 23,000 dollar-millionaires have left the country since 2014, with 7,000 leaving in 2017 alone, taking India to the top of the exodus charts.

Punjab National Bank drags Hanung Toys to bankruptcy courts

Punjab National Bank (PNB) is taking Hanung Toys & Textiles, an NCR-based soft toys and home furnishing company, to the bankruptcy courts for unpaid loans totalling Rs 2,600 crore. The PNB-led consortium of lenders collectively loaned the amount to the toymaker, which was in debt restructuring for about Rs 1,800 crore three years ago.
