NPS subscribers may be allowed to invest more in equities

The pension fund regulator is considering increasing the cap on equity investments for private sector subscribers of NPS from a maximum of 50% - 75% of one's investment. The move will be in the interest of existing and new subscribers who would want to take advantage of the potential of equity in generating the higher inflation-adjusted return over other asset classes in the long-term.

Samsung to set up 15 Smart Healthcare centers in TN

Korean electronics major Samsung has inked a partnership with the Government of Tamil Nadu for setting up 15 Smart Healthcare centers in the State. Under the initiative, Samsung would provide advanced healthcare equipment like digital ultrasound, x-ray machines, apart from LED TV, air conditioner and refrigerators to select government hospitals, a press release said.

Google India on Monday announced that people can now pay water, electricity, DTH and mobile bills with its "Tez" digital payment app without any transaction charges. Twenty-five percent of customer service and support operations will integrate virtual customer assistant (VCA) or chatbot technology across engagement channels by 2020 -- up from less than two percent in 2017, Gartner said on Monday. Man dies after co-passenger kicks him out of moving train in Bhopal

A 23-year-old man died after he was kicked out of a moving train by another passenger, without any apparent provocation, near Sukhi Sewania railway station on the outskirts of Bhopal, railway police said. Scientists have found a gene responsible for ovarian cancer that can be passed down from fathers to their daughters. The study found that genes on the X-chromosome get potentially passed down through the father to his daughter, thus increasing the risk of ovarian cancer in girls. A mutation on the X-chromosome may also advance ovarian cancer's age of onset by more than six years.

CBI raids Rotomac Pen's Kanpur properties in loan default case

The CBI on Monday raided several locations in Kanpur in connection with an Rs 800 crore loan default by the Rotomac Pen company's chief Vikram Kothari, an official said. Rough diamond imports up 11% in Apr-Jan period: GJEPC

Imports of rough diamonds have increased by 11.11% to USD 15.53 billion during the April-January period of the current fiscal, according to Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council. The imports had aggregated to USD 13.97 billion in the 10-month period of last fiscal, 2016-17. The inbound shipments of gold bars also rose by 18.2% to USD 4.37 billion during the April-January period of 2017-18.
