First six-car Metro train to Bangalore by December

BEML Limited is all set to supply the first six-car Metro to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) by December. “One car will be earmarked for women. By December 2018, all our existing trains will run with six cars,” BMRCL Managing Director said. A six-car train will have the capacity to carry up to 1,850 commuters, an official added.

Gold prices today jumped by Rs.325 to Rs.30,775 per 10 grams at the bullion market on the back of wedding season demand and strong global cues. Silver also recaptured the Rs.41,000-mark by recovering Rs.600 to Rs.41,150 per kg on increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers. Traders said brisk buying by local jewellers to meet ongoing wedding season demand lifted the gold prices.
Dog ownership linked to lower risk of death: study

Owning a dog is associated with a reduced risk for cardiovascular disease and death, a study claims. Scientists looked at over 3.4-million individuals aged between 40 and 80 years to study the association between dog ownership and cardiovascular health during the 12-year follow-up. The results showed that single dog owners had a 33% reduction in risk of death and 11% reduction in risk of cardiovascular disease compared to single non-owners, according to the study.

India has raised import tax on edible oil to the highest level in more than a decade, the government said in an order, as the world’s biggest importer of edible oils tries to support its farmers.
