Railways spending Rs.9,000 cr on 43 northeast projects: Minister

Agartala: The Railways is executing 43 projects at a cost of Rs.9,000 crore to extend rail connectivity in the border areas of northeast India and with other parts of the country, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said here on Tuesday. The Ministry has sanctioned electrification of the entire rail network in the northeast.

Ed seizes Dabur India Director's Assets worth Rs 21 Cr

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday seized assets worth Rs.20.87 crore belonging to the director of Dabur India Limited under Foreign Exchange Management Act for holding assets abroad. The investigation revealed that Pradip Burman had deposited dollar 3.21 million with the HSBC Bank in Zurich and Burman had not shown it in the IT returns filed in India for the period 2007-08.

Petrol price highest ever in Chennai; up 30 paise

After reaching unprecedented highs in Delhi and Mumbai, petrol prices touched a record high in Chennai, at Rs.79.79 per litre on Tuesday. With this, the fuel price breached its previous record of Rs.79.55 in the city, hit in September 2013. The fuel cost rose by 32 paise from Monday's price of Rs.79.47 per litre.

Maharashtra hikes compensation for families of its martyred soldiers

The state government has decided to raise the one-time compensation given to families of martyred soldiers from Maharashtra to Rs.25 lakh, from the current Rs.8 lakh. A soldier will now get Rs.15 lakh in case disability is 50% or more, Rs.8.5 lakh if it's between 25% and 50%, Rs.5 lakh for up to 25% disability.

Canteen services provided by outside vendors in offices and factories will attract 18% GST said the Authority for Advance Rulings(AAR). The Gujarat Bench of the AAR passed its order in an application filed by Rashmi Hospitality Services sought an advance ruling on whether the rate of tax on supplies made to non-airconditioned canteen of offices would be taxed at GST of 12% or 18%.

Government asks 11 PSBs to submit revival plans by Friday

One Of Three Cuba Plane Crash Survivors Dies In Hospital

One of the three women who survived Cuba's worst air crash in decades has died from her injuries, the health ministry said Monday, raising the toll to 111. The 23-year-old, Gretell Landrove, was admitted to hospital with life-threatening injuries and she did not make medical progress, the ministry said in a statement. The other two women survivors were still in critical condition.
