Veg-Only Meals On Trains On Gandhi Jayanti For 3 Years Planned

A blueprint prepared by the Railways plans to celebrate 150th anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti as a 'Vegetarian Day.' The Railway Board has proposed that no non-vegetarian food will be served to passengers anywhere on its premises on October 2, for three consecutive years. If the proposal is approved, October 2 will not only be celebrated as Rashtriya Swachhta Diwas, but also as 'Vegetarian Day.'

Recorded Music Banned In Delhi Pubs

The Delhi government has told bars not to play recorded music after residents at many areas complained of how noise from the watering holes disturbs their peace. Pubs can play only live music such as individual or band performances, the Delhi government has said, citing licence conditions that ban them from playing recorded music.

China launches satellite to explore Moon's far side

China launched a relay satellite on Monday to set up a communication link between Earth and the planned Chang'e-4 lunar probe that will explore the mysterious far side of Moon, which can not be seen from the Earth. The satellite, named Queqiao(Magpie Bridge), was carried by a Long March-4C rocket that blasted from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Center, according to the CNSA, source reported.

Cuba identifies 20 victims of last Friday's plane crash

Twenty of 110 victims of last Friday's fatal plane crash in Cuba have been identified and the bodies were sent to their families for burial, an official said. Sergio Rabel, director of Havana's Legal Medicine Institute, told reporters that a large group of experts were working round the clock to conclude the complex process of identifying the remains, Xinhua news agency reported.

Those coming for work must obtain a good conduct and behaviour certificate from their home country. The rule was implemented in February and the special branch authorities are receiving requests to issue the certificate.

Two arrested for alleged GST fraud, tax evasion

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) department on Saturday arrested two persons for allegedly duping the exchequer of Rs 127 crore by issuing fake GST invoices and not paying the service tax. Amit Upadhyay (40) and Asad Anwar Sayed (42) were sent in judicial custody for 15 days by a local court, a GST official said.

CBI mulling red corner notice against Modi, Choksi

The CBI is likely to approach Interpol for a Red Corner Notice against absconding billionaire jewellers Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi who are allegedly the brains behind the over USD 2 billion scam in Punjab National Bank, agency sources said. The PNB had approached the CBI with a complaint on the basis of which the agency had registered an FIR against Modi.
