Congress-president Rahul Gandhi today appointed national coordinator and joint coordinators of the All India Congress Committee's (AICC) data analytics department, party general secretary Ashok Gehlot said. Gandhi has appointed Swapna Patronis as the national coordinator, while Ashok Varadrajan and Aditeshwar Singh Deo will act joint coordinators of the department, Gehlot said in a statement issued here.
Two Mumbai Hospitals Protest Over Assault On Doctors

The protest called by the doctors of JJ Hospital in Mumbai over the alleged assault of their colleagues by patient's relatives entered its 3rd-day. Several doctors of city's Sion-Hospital also joined them today to demand immediate action against attackers and adequate arrangements at hospitals to ensure safety of the staff. "We'll continue our protest till our demands are accepted by the government", doctors assured.

Tea leaf extract can destroy cancer cells: Study

Nanoparticles derived from tea leaves can inhibit the growth of lung cancer cells, destroying up to 80% of them, a team of Indian and British scientists has found. The study, published in the journal Applied NanoMaterials, outlines a new method of producing a type of nanoparticle called quantum dots. Tea leaves contain a wide variety of compounds, including polyphenols, amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants.
Lexus India introduces its flagship SUV LX 570 at Rs.2.33 crore

Toyota group luxury automobile maker Lexus today launched its flagship SUV LX 570 in India priced at Rs 2.33 crore (ex-showroom). The new LX 570 is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 petrol engine, Lexus India said in a statement. The 2018 LX 570 also introduces third-row seating which can transform easily to additional cargo space if needed, the company added.
20 UP sugar mills sold electricity worth Rs 214 crore to govt

Twenty sugar mills, including six from Muzaffarnagar district, sold surplus electricity worth Rs 214 crore to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) in 2016-17, officials said today. Six sugar mills from Khatauli, Titawi, Budhana, Mansurpur, Tikola and Khaikheri areas in Muzaffarnagar accounted for electricity worth Rs 78 crore, District Cane Officer (DCO) O P Yadav said.
TN govt hints it may not cut VAT on fuel

With prices of petrol and diesel touching record highs, the Tamil Nadu government today hinted it may not cut the VAT on these products, saying they form a key part of the states own tax revenue. Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar said the state extends benefits and sops worth Rs.77,000 crore to various segments, with a salary of government employees constituting 70% of its expenditure.
Facebook allows native sharing of posts to WhatsApp

Delhi Metro Magenta Line section to be operational from next week

In a major relief to commuters, the Janakpuri West-Kalkaji Mandir section of Delhi Metro's Magenta Line will be flagged off next week. This section, comprising of 16 stations, will be the longest opened so far in Delhi Metro's Phase 3. With the commissioning of this section, the entire Delhi Metro corridor will expand to 278 kilometres with 202 stations.

New Delhi-Vizag AP Express catches fire near Gwalior

Two coaches of AP AC Super Fast Express train travelling from New Delhi to Visakhapatnam caught fire at Birla Nagar near Gwalior around 11:50 am on Monday. Fire engulfed the doors and adjacent windows of the affected coaches. Firefighters reached the spot and are working bring the blaze under control. According to reports, no causalities have been reported and the passengers were safely evacuated.
