
BS Yediyurappa govt seeks to cut elephant corridor near Bengaluru short by 100 sq km

Despite years of efforts by the civil society to save the Bannerghatta-National-Park and umpteen assurances from BJP MPs in Bengaluru that that the elephant corridor and city's lung space will be saved, the Yediyurappa government in Karnataka has sought reduction of Bannerghatta's eco-sensitive zone. The Bannerghatta-National-Park and surrounding ESZ acts as a safe haven for elephants as well as lungs for the polluted Bengaluru.
