Rs 100 crore needed to calibrate ATMs for new 100 rupee notes: Lobby

The ATM operations industry said an investment of Rs 100 crore will be needed to recalibrate 2.4 lakh ATMs across the country to make them ready for dispensing new Rs 100 notes. "Over 12 months of time will be needed for recalibration," said Hitachi Payment Services' Managing Director. RBI on Thursday announced it will issue new lavender-coloured Rs 100 notes shortly.

'Rani ki Vav' on new Rs 100 note: What's the legend?

The archaeological site 'Rani ki Vav' that features on the rear of new Rs 100 notes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gujarat's Patan. The 11th-century site is a stepwell which was built by the Solanki dynasty's queen Udayamati as a memorial for her deceased husband Bhimdev. In 2016, it was awarded the 'cleanest iconic place' in India title.

A new 100 rupee note will make its way to banks soon

The Reserve Bank of India on Thursday announced it will soon issue a new-series of Rs-100 currency notes. The new design for the Rs 100 denomination, part of the Mahatma-Gandhi (New) series features a lavender colour as the base, with a motif depicting ‘Rani Ki Vav’, which means the queen’s step well. Rani ki vav is a UNESCO World Heritage site in Patan, Gujarat.
