Haryana is going all out to encourage women to vote in upcoming LS-elections in the state from polling booths managed by women to separate queues, toilets and stringent-security, EC is keen to increase their voter percentage this year. Mr Ranjan said the initiative will spread the message that women can not only participate in elections but also conduct the same in an efficient manner.

Several candidates have taken to online crowd funding to finance their election campaigns, ahead of the upcoming LS-polls. Cash-starved, these nominees are also advocating transparency in poll funding. Kanhaiya Kumar, former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union, has so far raised Rs. 70 lakh from more than 5,500 people. Practice of raising money from people through Internet has been adopted by several politicians.
