Power Ministry asks AC manufacturers to regulate default settings

Power Minister RK Singh has asked major air-conditioner manufacturers to maintain default temperature setting at 24 degree Celsius with an aim to promote energy efficiency. "Every 1-degree increase in the air-conditioner temperature setting results in saving of 6% of electricity consumed," Singh said. He further said that some countries like Japan have regulated the temperature at 28 degree.
