
18,683 Deaths In Road Accidents In Odisha In 4 Years

As many as 18,683-people died in road accidents in the last four years in Odisha, said Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera. The Minister told the state Assembly that 4,463-people were killed in 10,532 accidents in 2016 and 4,790 deaths occurred in 10,855 accidents in 2017. A total of 5,315-people died in 11,262-accidents in 2018 and 4,115 deaths in 8,203-accidents till September this year, said Behera.

Uber to offer accidental insurance to riders

US-based ride hailing giant Uber on Wednesday said it will offer free insurance to its riders in case of accidents while on trip across categories such as cars, autos and motorcycles. Riders will be insured for up to Rs.5 lakh in case of accidental death or disability and up to Rs.2 lakh for hospitalisation, including an OPD benefit of up to Rs.50,000.

Hong Kong Train Derails During Rush Hour, 8 Injured

A passenger train has derailed during the morning rush hour in Hong Kong, forcing the evacuation of 500 passengers and leaving eight people injured. Images from the scene showed three carriages had left the tracks and were zigzagged across the rails near Hung Hom station in Kowloon a busy interchange that provides services to mainland China.
