Chinese video app TikTok said it would not allow paid political ads on its platform as they do not fit into the experience it aims to provide to millions of its users. Created by Beijing Bytedance Technology Co, TikTok allows users to create and share short videos with special effects, and is hugely popular in Southeast Asia, including India.

WhatsApp is working on bringing ads to its iOS app

According to reliable leaker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is already working to implement ads on its iOS app. After Facebook acquired WhatsApp, the messaging service had assured users of "absolutely no ads" on its platform. Yet, a month back, WhatsApp had announced that it would bring ads by 2019, and just days back, WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton spoke up about Facebook's intentions.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp may finally introduce ads in the ‘Status’ section on the iOS app next year. Up until now, WhatsApp has remained an advertisement-free platform. According to a series of tweets by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing advertisements inside the Stories feature on its app. It will be very similar to the ads shown in Instagram’s Stories.
