The Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) has written a letter to EAM S Jaishankar alleging that a pilot with Air India was asked to remove his turban at Spain's Madrid Airport recently and asked him to take up the matter at the international level. SAD's Manjinder Singh Sirsa said he received information about the incident when Captain Simranjeet Singh Gujral, the pilot, called him on Tuesday.

An Air-India-pilot has been grounded for three months after he was tested positive in a pre-flight breathalyser test. The pilot wanted to fly as a passenger from Delhi to Bengaluru. Since the flight was full, he requested to fly in the cockpit as an additional crew-member. "As per DGCA rules Pilot of Air India has been suspended for three months," an Air-India-official told ANI.

Air India suspended a-senior-pilot for allegedly shoplifting at Sydney airport on Saturday. According to the suspension order accessed by Hindustan Times, the pilot was supposed to fly AI 301 on June-22 and is alleged to have lifted goods from a Duty free-shop there. Air India lays the highest stress on proper conduct of its staff and has zero tolerance policy towards acts of impropriety.
