Kashmir terror threat: Airlines waive off cancellation fee

After Jammu and Kashmir government asked tourists and Amarnath pilgrims to leave the valley amid terror threat, airlines have announced that they won't charge cancellation or rescheduling fee on flights to and from Srinagar. After the Centre's advisory, Air India offered fee waiver till August 15, while carriers like IndiGo, SpiceJet and Vistara is offering the waiver till August 9.

A parliamentary panel has recommended to the government not to allow airlines to charge high fares during the festive and holiday seasons in the name of deregulation. "... The committee has taken a very strong view and the committee notes specially that during vacations and festivals, some airlines are charging 8-10 times more," said the source.
