Government reviewing IndiGo, SpiceJet web check-in fee for seats after complaints

The Ministry of Civil Aviation is reviewing IndiGo and SpiceJet's new policy to introduce a charge for passengers who check-in over the internet. The ministry tweeted that it had noted that the airlines are now charging for web check-in for all seats. "We are reviewing these fees to see whether they fall within the unbundled pricing framework," the ministry tweeted.

India's largest airline IndiGo will now charge for web check-in of all seats. According to a series of tweets by the airline, it has revised its policies since November 14, making all seats selected online chargeable. The carrier will, however, continue to allocate seats without the extra charge to flyers checking in at the airport and those with corporate bookings.

Tata begins due diligence to buy Jet Airways from Naresh Goyal

Tata Sons is reportedly conducting due diligence on Jet Airways, as it looks to buy a majority stake in the cash-strapped airline. Reports said Tata Sons CFO Saurabh Agarwal is leading the discussions while Jet Airways is represented by Chairman Naresh Goyal, who owns a controlling 51% stake. Tata already has two aviation joint ventures with Singapore Airlines and AirAsia.
