Woman Police Officer Set On Fire In Kerala, Dies; Attacker In ICU

A woman civil-police-officer in Kerala's Alappuzha district has died after she was set on fire this afternoon allegedly by a colleague who poured petrol on her. The policewoman was on her way back home from work. Soumya Pushpakaran, 34, died on the spot. The accused, who is also a civil police officer, according to police sources, suffered 40% burn injuries was taken into custody.
1.17 Lakh Staying In 600 Kerala Flood Relief Camps

More than one lakh flood-affected people continue to stay in make-shift relief camps in Kerala though there was respite from rain for past two days. As water level has not receded in several places in Alappuzha, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts, people were still housed in relief camps with bare minimum facilities. There are nearly 1.17 lakh people were still living in 600 relief camps.
