Amazon invests $79.8 million in Amazon Pay

Global ecommerce behemoth Amazon has invested a sum of $79.8 million in Amazon Pay, its digital payment arm in India. Earlier, Amazon.com.inc and Amazon Corporate Holdings had invested $33.3 million in Amazon Pay, according to filings with the Registrar of Companies. The investments have come as Amazon Pay is gearing to offer cashbacks in the festive season.

Sequoia and American Express backed app aggregator Tapzo announced that the app will be shutting down from October 31, 2018. "Starting 1 September 2018, we will be switching off all the transactional categories on Tapzo," a statement said. This comes after Tapzo was acquired by Amazon Pay for a reported $40 million in a cash and stock deal.
