Google bans Android phones from having three or more notches

Google in its developer's blog on Monday said that it is working with device partners to support display cutouts on edge-to-edge screens with Android P, limiting the number of notches to two. Android P phones can have only one notch on a side and notches are only allowed on the top and bottom edges, not the left and right.

We are still weeks away from the official public roll out of the Android P and Google has rolled out the third beta version of the latest iteration for testers. Beta-3 essentially brings tons of bug fixes and improvements. It arrives a month after the Beta 2, this version is close to the final Android P as most of the APIs were finalised, TechCrunch-reported.
