The shooter who fired at a protest against the citizenship-law near Jamia Millia University on Thursday-afternoon is a 17-year-old schoolboy who left home in the morning saying he was going to school. Later, the family was to go to a wedding. Somehow, instead of his school at Jewar in Uttar-Pradesh, he landed up at the protest, with a gun in hidden in his black-jacket.

Journalist Faye D'Souza has been dropped from the list of speakers at a lecture series sponsored by the Goa government because of her stand against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, a minister said on Saturday. Ms D'Souza, a well-known TV journalist, was among the speakers at the DD Kosambi Festival of Ideas organised by the Goa Art and Culture Department.
Opposition Meet Tomorrow On Citizenship Law, NRC Amid Protests

The opposition parties would meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss the current political situation in the backdrop of the student protests and the contentious citizenship law and the citizenship list NRC. The meeting, expected to signal opposition unity, however, will not be attended by Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Bahujan Samajwadi Party chief Mayawati, sources said.
