
NBFC liquidity crisis hits India's auto industry hard

Automakers, hit by the liquidity crisis among NBFCs, want the government to take measures to stem the reduction in credit for dealers and customers. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam), the industry lobby, has written to finance secretary A.N. Jha about the continued decline in sales from the lack of credit. The NBFC crisis was triggered by the crisis at IL&FS.

Nissan Motor Co.'s directors put the brakes on naming a successor for Carlos Ghosn as pay scandal that landed the high-flying executive in a Tokyo jail widens to include the automaker itself. The board met Monday to decide on a successor for Ghosn, who was ousted as chairman the same week he was arrested on allegations of understating his pay and misusing Nissan's assets.

The board of automaker Nissan Motor Co. Ltd was meeting Monday to discuss a replacement for former chairman Carlos Ghosn after his arrest for financial misconduct, as tensions grow in the firms alliance with Renault. The Japanese company removed Ghosn from his post last month after he was detained on allegations of under-reporting his salary.
