Wipro eyes $50 million from automation only deals

Wipro has set a target of $50-million in automation-only deals, as the technology services company strives to grow faster through digital-led revenue, two-people with knowledge of the matter told ET. The Wipro-leadership has tasked the Wipro HOLMES team to bag more automation-only deals, apart from other contracts that come with a digital-technology component. The company has stepped-up focus on digital technology-led delivery of services.

Labour-minister Santosh Gangwar said the technology automation has not replaced workers but improved productivity, brushing aside apprehensions that increasing level of automation will result in job losses in the country. "The technology automation has not replaced workers, but improved productivity and provided workers the time to focus on other tasks involving complex decision making and social interactions," Gangwar said in a reply in LS.
