Passenger complaints about baggage mishandling on rise: DGCA

Complaints and concerns of domestic air passengers about luggage mishandling show no signs of decline, with aviation regulator DGCA stating that 27.5 percent of all complaints received in June was related to baggage. There was a rise of over 10 percent in baggage-related complaints as compared to the corresponding period last year (16.6 percent). In 2016, the figure was 19.7 percent.

Private air carriers raise check-in baggage charges beyond 15 kg

In a move which could hit the air passengers hard, private carriers such as IndiGo, GoAir and SpiceJet have together increased baggage charges beyond the standard limit of 15 kg. While the revised charge of GoAir has come into effect from today, IndiGo and SpiceJet have raised the extra baggage charges from June 22 onwards.

Jet Airways to now allow just 1 check-in bag on domestic flights

Jet Airways is trying to change the concept of air travel in the domestic market. From July-15, the airline is revising its baggage concept from weight to piece for domestic flights. For travel after July-15, the airline will allow one free check-in baggage weighing not more than 15kg for economy class flyers and two bags not weighing more than 30kg for business class flyers.
