Goldman Sachs to layoff 98 bank employees in New York

Goldman Sachs Group Inc plans to lay off nearly 100 employees in New York in the coming months, according to a filing the bank made with New York state that was made public on Monday. The 98 employees are being let go for "economic" reasons and their final day will be between May 29 and Sept. 28, according to the source.

A senior assistant manager at a bank in West Bengal stole coins worth Rs.84 lakh over a period of 17 months to buy lottery tickets. The 35-year-old, whose crime was uncovered during an annual audit, was arrested on Friday and confessed soon after. Investigators said they are trying to figure out how he transported the coins out of the bank.
