Bengaluru's Bellandur Lake Begins To Froth Once Again

Bengaluru's Bellandur-lake, infamous for its pollution, has started to froth once-again. Giant chunks of smelly, white froth that looked like cotton could be seen spilling around residential neighbourhood. The toxic froth in Bellandur and other lakes of Bengaluru has persisted for atleast two-decades and has become a-regular-phenomenon of sorts. In February 2017, huge flames were seen leaping-off Bellandur-lake, covering the region in thick smoke.

Heavy rain triggers Bellandur Lake to spill 10-ft high toxic foam

Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru on Tuesday again spewed large quantities of toxic foam, reaching the nearby busy roads. Triggered by heavy rain, the foam, reportedly reached a height of 10 feet in places. Pieces of odoriferous foam carried up in the air also spread through the area creating problems for locals and commuters.

Taking umbrage over the continued apathy towards the Bellandur Lake, the HC of Karnataka pulled up the state Govt, asking a competent authority to appear on Friday. Hearing a public interest litigation filed by Rajya Sabha member D Kupendra Reddy and a resident of HSR Layout, a division bench headed by Justice H G Ramesh.
