Citizenship Bill Against Indigenous People Of Sikkim: Bhaichung Bhutia

Former Indian football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia on Tuesday expressed disappointment that Sikkim was not excluded from the ambit of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, unlike several other states in the north-east. Mr Bhutia, working president of Hamro Sikkim Party, said the legislation will dilute special provisions of the Himalayan state that it enjoys under Article 371F of the Constitution.
Bhaichung Bhutia Auctions Two Jerseys To Fight Polls In Sikkim

India's former football captain, Bhaichung Bhutia has put two of his favourite jerseys on auction, on Sunday, to raise funds for his HSP, fighting the elections for the first time. Among the two jerseys are one that he wore for 'Match Against Poverty' organised by United Nations Development Programme and the other that he wore during his farewell match against Bayern Munich in 2012.

Three prominent leaders of Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP), headed by India's former football captain Bhaichung Bhutia, have resigned, months ahead of general-elections and the assembly polls. The three leaders alleged Mr Bhutia and his cohorts were running the party in an "undemocratic" manner. HSP's working president Ran Bahadur Subba, former minister KN Upreti and vice-president Tara Shrestha were the ones to quit the party.
