
Death of 650 chickens sets off bird flu scare in Bihar

Deaths of 650 chickens at a-poultry-farm in Patna district has started a bird flu scare in Bihar. The chickens died from what is known as H5N1 virus this week. H5N1 is a virulent form of H1N1 virus. The authorities have culled more than 2000 poultry birds in Bihar's Munger District to prevent-an-epidemic. There hasn't been any official announcement to ban poultry products so far.

Bihar: One killed in Naxal attack, four buses torched

One person was killed in a Naxal attack in Bihar on Saturday night. The Naxals reportedly shot the person dead and set four buses on fire.The attack took place in Dev area of Aurangabad district late Saturday night. Teams of the CRPF and Bihar Police later reached the spot. Photographs from the spot show mangled remains of a red-colour bus which has been gutted.

Bihar: 20 women attacked with blades at Dussehra mela

The Durga Puja festivities turned out to be a horrific experience for almost two dozen women in Jehanabad district of Bihar when they were attacked with sharp blades by a group of anti-social elements at the local mela (fair) organised in the town. The incident took place during the annual Dussehra mela which was organised in Thakur Bari area of Jehanabad.
