"Still Time To Talk About Separate State": Students' Body On Bodo Deal

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), which has been spearheading movement for a separate Bodoland state, has claimed that the accord signed on Monday was "call of the time" to "end armed conflict" and that there is still time to "discuss about a separate state". ABSU, however, indicated that it has not yet given up its aspiration for a separate Bodoland state.

A 12-hour Assam bandh was called by multiple non-Bodo organisations on Monday in protest against the central government's move to sign a peace accord with different Bodo stakeholders. The Narendra Modi government on Monday signed a fresh Bodo accord with the banned Assam-based insurgent group National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) that aims to provide political and economic bonanza to the tribals.
