
Mumbaikars to face 10% water cut from November 15: BMC

With water stocks in seven reservoirs is 15 US lesser than the previous year, BMC will implement 10 US cut in water supply from November 15 till further review. A senior BMC official said on Wednesday that this decision was taken after it was found that the water stock in the lakes was 15 US lesser compared to the same period last year.

You can't leave people to die: Bombay High Court

Slamming Indian Railways and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation over Tuesday's bridge collapse at Andheri station, Bombay High Court on Wednesday said, "You cannot leave people to die." After BMC pointed out the bridge was a railway property, the court said, "It's very easy to say that it's their property. You (BMC) are also responsible for whatever happens within civic limits."

Civic body hikes water charges in Mumbai by 3.72%

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has hiked water charges by 3.72 percent for 2018-19. The new rates will be applicable from June 16. According to the new tariff, water charges applicable to domestic users, like slums, will increase from Rs 3.68 to Rs 3.82 per 1,000 litres, while that of societies and buildings will be revised from Rs 4.91 to Rs 5.09 per 1,000 litres.
