Varun Gandhi Hasn't Paid Phone Dues Of Rs 38,000 Despite Reminders: BSNL

BJP lawmaker Varun Gandhi faces action for allegedly not paying telephone dues of over Rs.38,000. State-run BSNL has sent a letter to Pilibhit District Election Officer asking for action against Varun Gandhi, who is contesting from Pilibhit in the national-election. In a letter on March-30, BSNL said telephone dues billed during Varun Gandhi's 2009-2014 tenure as Pilibhit MP were not paid "despite several attempts".

PM Promoted Firms Of Capitalist Friends At Expense Of BSNL: Congress

The Congress alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "promoted" the firms of his "capitalist friends" at the expense of state-owned BSNL and MTNL. Congress's chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala's attack came over a media report which claimed that in order to better the financial condition of BSNL and get it back on track, its board has approved several proposals, including voluntary retirement for 54,000 employees.

Govt mulls attractive VRS for BSNL, MTNL revival

The Narendra Modi government is actively considering revival of the two state-owned telcos Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) through a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS), allocation of 4G spectrum and reduction of debt, according to a senior official, who also denied reports of any plans to lay off employees.
