19-year-old woman gang-raped in West Bengal

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped in a under construction building in Jalpaiguri district, police said Thursday. The incident happened on Tuesday evening at Jahuri Talma in Jalpaiguri Sadar block. According to the woman, two youths stopped her cycle, grabbed her and took her to an under-construction building, a police officer said, adding, three other persons were waiting there and she was gang-raped.
Kolkata: Bagree Market fire brought under control after 2 days

The massive fire at Bagree market in Burrabazar area in the business hub of Kolkata has been brought under control after two days, an official said today. At the moment, the process of "cooling down" was on at the market and 15 fire tenders have been pressed into service, Director General of West Bengal Fire & Emergency Services Jag Mohan said.
AMC to survey all govt housings

Taking a leaf out of the tragedy that unfolded at the Odhav-govt-colony, the civic body has now decided to survey all the govt housing-colonies within their jurisdiction. AMC standing committee chairman Amul-Bhatt, the civic body will soon start inspecting all the government colonies under also Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Rajiv Awas Yojana, Indira Awas Yojana or Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana within Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits.
