166-year-old Byculla railway station to be revamped soon

Byculla railway station, one of the oldest and busiest suburban stations on the Central Railway line, is all set to get a makeover. An NGO has secured permission from the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC) and the railway authorities to carry out the restoration work of the 166-year-old station, a railway official said on Thursday.

Atleast 14 Nigerian nationals were arrested for drug peddling and contraband worth Rs.21 lakh and a pistol were seized from them, police said Thursday. Some of the had illegally entered India from Bangladesh, they said. A raid was carried by the Byculla police on the railway tracks of Chinchpokli in Central Mumbai in which they caught seven Nigerian nationals with narcotics on December 15.
