Cashless toll mop-up via FASTags nears 50% mark

Electronic toll collection across national highways is nearing the 50% mark, as the government steps up efforts towards cashless tolling. In July, the ministry of road transport and highways had directed the National Highways Authority of India(NHAI) to equip all toll lanes barring one across national highways with electronic toll collection(ETC) infrastructure from December 1 onwards, which was later extended by two weeks.
No loose change? Beggars in China now accepting mobile payments

The next time a beggar approaches you in China, you might not be able to fend them off anymore by saying "sorry, no spare change". Chinese beggars have lately been seen keeping up with China's cashless trend of e-payments by accepting donations via mobile phones. A number of them have been seen dangling a card on their neck with a printout of a QR-code.

It's common for friends or colleagues to go out for lunch together and decide to split the bill. One person pays the bill and the others are to send the money through Paytm. RBI has issued guidelines on interoperability of prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) like e-wallets on 16 October, which will enable transfer of money from one e-wallet to another, besides offering other benefits.
