
Rishi Kumar Shukla takes charge as CBI director

Newly-appointed CBI chief Rishi Kumar Shukla took charge of the probe agency Monday, officials said. Shukla, a 1983-batch IPS officer, took charge at a time when the agency is busy in a dirty battle of turf war with the Kolkata Police which has spiralled into a political slugfest between the Centre and West Bengal government.

Rishi Kumar Shukla has been appointed as the new director of the CBI. Rishi K Shukla, former MP DGP, is an officer of 1983 cadre of the IPS. The Centre announced the name of next CBI chief, ignoring the objections raised by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, a member of PM Narendra Modi-led selection committee, on the names of probable contenders proposed by the government.
